For the mapping part of our project, we used both Google Earth and Google Maps, and also social network graphing.
In the Google Maps section you can find a mao that depict our poets' journeys. It is divided into five different periods that you can toggle accordingly.
If you prefer to highlight the relationships themselves, disregarding the geographical references, you may find our Social Network graph more appealing.

After the deprecation of the Google Earth API, we do not know about other alternatives to build timelines with 3D mapping applications in the browser. We have decided to include the Google Earth plug-in, anyway. Besides the Google Earth application for Android, these are the browsers that will allow you to visualize the globe until December 2015:
